Lyra

Blue Alpha Shrine

“Those whom seek peace must understand the harm of silence”

The Northernmost Continent

Lyra consists of two individual land masses - An academic refuge, Ori Island, and an arctic plain called the ‘mainland’. Between the two land masses is a single man-made bridge called “Tetra”. The narrow structure is a lifeline of commerce within the region, providing safety from the treacherous landscape and its many dangers.

On the eastern side of the bridge, along the western coast of the mainland, lies the capital city of Bomac. A famous city defined by its magecraft-infused architecture and its three massive capital buildings made of gray smoothstone and polished blue metal accents. At the other end of the bridge, you’ll be introduced to the rocky island of Ori and its related central hub of Amoria. Despite the small size of the island, it is one of the most influential places in the world, hosting the greatest magecrafters and scholars from all over.

Besides the main cities and scattered coastal settlements, Lyra has a very low population density, as most try to avoid the icy landscape and its harsh seasons. During the first half of the year, there is continuous rainfall throughout the continent. As the seasons change, the continent freezes over, turning the rain into snow and surrounding water into ice. During these months, there is a temporary ice bridge that connects Ori island and the mainland to the northern parts of Itrea and Eirium.

The Icy Region

Amoria

Taking up most of Ori Island, Amoria is the second largest city in Lyra, boasting a diverse population of species. Many different humans, anphins, dragons and other species travel to Amoria to advance their studies and develop their Magecraft abilities. Many aspiring scholars and sorcerers apply to the prestigious academies within the city, however, given the rigorous entrance exams, most would be lucky to pass within their lifetime. Beyond its difficulty, little is known about the entrance exams as it is said that your memory is wiped after each attempt.

At the southern point of the city, facing the Gallionn Sea, there is a large stone statue of the city’s founder, Amoria. Many believe that the statue serves as a guardian of the city, and, if the city is under attack, the statue will come to life to defend its sovereignty. Others believe this to be simple folklore and a myth passed down through time.

The Council

The 3 pillars of the modern world overlooking the capital city of Bomac can be seen from anywhere along the Gallionn Sea and stand as a reminder of what once was. Today, many look at the continent of Lyra and to its three pillars as a symbol of stability. The floating structure is positioned above the middle of the city, often hosting some of the most influential and powerful individuals. The middle, tallest tower, is considered the “Council’s Quarters”, home to the 9 member group.

The Council is headed by an elected King, holding 3 votes, 2 more than the other 8 council members. The group’s primary purpose is to deliberate on internal and global affairs. The king calls the group to convene and discuss issues brought by the people of Lyra. The position of the region and the influence it carries is then dictated by majority vote. As the authority of Seneca expands and the wealthy council members avoid turbulence, some Amorians have started questioning where the loyalty of the council really stands.
